Thailand VISAS

RETURN TO VISAS

Non-immigrant Type B (Employment) Visa

All foreigners who wish to perform in Thailand must obtain both a working visa called a Non-immigrant Type B (Employment) visa as well as a Work Permit. Please be aware that all artists and crew members in the touring party are required to apply. You can apply for a Non-immigrant Visa by post, in person at a Thai Embassy or Consulate, or through the Thailand E-Visa portal. After arriving in Thailand, you must sign a work permit, which can be done at the performance venue.

You can check whether you’re eligible to apply through the E-Visa portal here. Applicants must be physically present in the country where they lodge their visa application. Applicants in Australia must submit a complete application form together with the required documents to the Royal Thai Embassy, Canberra by post or in person.

The general requirements for this type of visa are as follows:

  • A passport with at least a 6-month validity from the date of your intended arrival in Thailand
  • An invitation or confirmation letter to clarify the purpose of the travel issued by agent/promoter/festival
  • Proof of financial funds and travel itinerary
  • Embassy fee

You will need to submit them online or in person (for the locations that do not accept online application) to your nearest Thai Embassy or consulate. You can do this up to 30 days prior to your arrival date in Thailand. The visa can take up to 15 working days to be issued.

Each applicant will require the following documents:

  • Completed Visa Application Form
  • One passport-sized photograph (no older than 6 months) affixed to the Visa Application Form
  • An actual passport with minimum validity of 6 months from the date of planned entry into Thailand. Must have at least two empty pages.
  • A copy of passport (bio data page)
  • Proof of adequate finances
  • An invitation or confirmation letter to clarify the purpose of the travel
  • A copy of the WP.32 approval (a work permit application form used by employers to request a work permit for a foreign employee who has not yet entered Thailand)
  • Additional Supporting Documents, such as proof of residence
  • Visa Fee
  • A prepaid return envelope with self-address

Please check with the embassy you are applying at as this list of documents may differ. In Australia this is the Royal Thai Embassy, Canberra

On arrival into Thailand, each member of the tour is required to sign for Work Permit which will be done at the venue. Please ensure that all working individuals have their passport and visa with them on show day.
