Ella Ion is a 26-year-old female indie folk/rock artist from Kaurna Land (Adelaide, Australia). Creating honest art that touches its audience is the drive behind Ella Ion’s music. Hailing from Adelaide, South Australia, Ion is a singer/songwriter who has been playing in an array of local bands since she was 15, and was inspired to pick up classical guitar at 10 years old by the world, folk and jazz music she encountered on a year-long adventure around the globe in 2008.

She released her debut album Waiting in March 2023 – a 10 track collection of heartfelt country/ folk/post-rock arrangements incorporating themes of deep longing, harsh introspection and the pain that comes with growth and change. As a young, emerging female artist, Ion is in the process of shaping her portfolio and exploring what styles resonate with both her authentic preferences and those of the broader music-consuming community whom she seeks to connect deeply with. Ion has learned to express what comes naturally and to her and to exist just outside the norm – a philosophy which has fostered an incredibly positive response from peers and fans to her most recent release. “I have never been a conformist to music scene culture and I believe listeners are yearning for a deeper dive into the emotional power of music, great lyricism and poetry. I am a huge advocate for transformational, touching experiences through music that empower listeners to think deeply and contemplatively, and to be deeply changed by what they consume.”
