The Folk Alliance International Conference, presented by Folk Alliance International, is the world’s largest gathering of the folk music industry and community (crossing a diverse array of genres including Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Global Roots, Hip-Hop, Old-Time, Singer-Songwriter, Spoken Word, Traditional, Zydeco, and various fusions).
Sounds Australia has been presenting showcases at Folk Alliance International since 2010 and this year we’ll be returning to host showcases across multiple nights of the event, taking place at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel from January 21 – 25. Sounds Australia will be hosting showcases in the Australia X Aotearoa Room (Room #911) on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, culminating at 1:20am (Saturday night/Sunday morning) in a Country Connections Jam Session, with artists from Australia, Canada, UK, Ireland and around the world coming together for a special jam session to close out the festival.
Australian artists who have played Folk Alliance International include All Our Exes Live In Texas, Busby Marou, Charm Of Finches, Emily Wurramara, Henry Wagons, Jordie Lane, Katie Noonan, Liz Stringer, Luluc, Mia Dyson, Oh Pep!, Ruby Boots, Shelley Morris, William Crighton and Yirrmal.
