Recap: Screen Composer Workshop

In partnership with White Bear PR we ran a composer workshop in Los Angeles.

Held at one of Los Angeles’ premier recording studios Squeak E Clean, Sounds Australia and White Bear PR oversaw an intensive program earlier this month for 14 Australian screen composers based in the United States, designed to sharpen the tools behind the creative.

White Bear PR specialise in personal publicity, encompassing PR services for Film, TV, Video Game & Classical Composers, Songwriters, Record Labels and Music Supervisors.

This two‑day intensive delivered a high‑impact capacity‑building experience, equipping composers with sharper professional tools across pitching, presentation and digital positioning. The program combined practical skills development with peer learning and relationship‑building, culminating in participants presenting directly to leading Los Angeles music supervisors, strengthening confidence and long‑term LA film and music industry connections.

In addition, Sounds Australia hosted a networking mixer in partnership with the Guild of Music Supervisors which brought together Guild members and the broader Australian music and film industry with cocktails courtesy of Four Pillars Gin and pies and sausage rolls from Australian artist and chef Stephen Collins of Open Door Group Catering.

A big thank you to the team at Squeak E Clean, particularly Elle Graham who was instrumental in pulling it all together and Bonnie Knight for overseeing all the technical wizardry. The studio has become a gathering point for Australians in Los Angeles, with APRA AMCOS having recording space in the building.
