Rory Jeffes

Born in Canada, Rory Jeffes has built an international career across for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. He holds an MA in Music from Oxford University, where he was awarded an Academical Clerkship. He began in public relations, becoming Director at Shandwick Communications in London.

He served as CEO of Opera Australia (2017–2021) and previously as Managing Director of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for nine years. He now works as an independent consultant, supporting boards and senior leaders in the performing arts sector, with a focus on social cohesion and cultural connection.

Jeffes has held senior development roles with organisations including Outward Bound (UK & Australia) and The Prince’s Youth Business Trust. He has advised government bodies such as the UK Social Exclusion Unit and NSW arts funding boards, and was Founding CEO of YouthNet UK, the world’s first “virtual” charity.

A licensed commercial helicopter pilot, he completed a microlight expedition from India to the UK for CRY India. He is married with two children.
