Claire Cross

Claire Cross is an Australian electric bassist and composer, now based in Berlin, Germany.

Having completed her Masters of Music (Jazz Arranging/Composition) at the prestigious Jazz Institut Berlin (Universität der Künste) in 2024, she has gone on to perform at the iconic Maxim Gorki Theatre as part of the acclaimed production Unser Deutschlandmärchen.

Her 2024 ambient-jazz album Sleep Cycle released on label Art as Catharsis. Having been invited to perform Sleep Cycle at Phoenix Central Park as part of Strata III Festival in 2024 and the iconic Bundanon Art Museum, the project has gone on to receive stunning reviews “…beautiful improvisors and visionary composition and bandleading.” (australianjazz.net)

Her 2023 neo-classical-jazz album Dialect with pianist Harry Cook was released on Australian label ABC Jazz.

Her 2022 album Into Light was nominated for a Music Victoria Award in the ‘Best Jazz Work’ category.

In 2019 Claire was awarded as the inaugural recipient of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival’s Take Note program. She also received the 2018 MWIJF Recording Prize.

She has performed with numerous iconic Australian artists and appears on numerous records.
