Loose Content are a three-piece indie/alt-rock band formed in the hinterlands of Byron Bay during high school. Now based in Melbourne/Naarm, the band comprises MiLLa (vocals, bass, 21), Sam Sanders (guitar, 21) and Aquila Porter (drums, backing vocals, 19).
Loose Content fuse the urgency of punk with the melodic instincts of Britpop and a distinctly Australian sensibility. Their sound is defined by driving rhythms, sharp guitar work and lyrics that balance political awareness with irony and emotional candour.
The band first gained attention with their debut EP Costumes, recorded with Nick DiDia, whose production credits include Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen & Rage Against The Machine. The release showcased their raw storytelling and dynamic live presence, quickly establishing them as a band to watch.
Over the past year, Loose Content’s ascent has been rapid and widely recognised. They have delivered standout performances at Byron Bay Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival, SXSW Sydney and BIGSOUND. At BIGSOUND 2025, Dave Rowntree of Blur named Loose Content his favourite band of the festival during his keynote address, while Richard Kingsmill listed them among his top ten highlights of the week. The band have also toured extensively along Australia’s east coast and supported artists including Grinspoon, The Preatures, Bôa and Magic Dirt.
With a new body of work produced by Dan Luscombe set for release in April 2026 just before their first ever run of UK shows, Loose Content are entering their next chapter with confidence. Unafraid to confront political themes while maintaining immediacy and energy, they continue to carve out a space as one of Australia’s most compelling young alternative rock acts.
