At BIGSOUND in Brisbane this week, Sounds Australia’s Glenn Dickie will moderate Mexico Rising: The New Frontier In Global Music Growth, taking place on Wednesday from 4:30pm.
We’ve seen first-hand how exciting the country is, having led a delegation of Australian music industry professionals to Mexico in 2024 and 2025, as well as participating in this year’s inaugural MUSICMEX in Mexico City. According to the latest IFPI Global Music Report, Mexico’s music market grew by 15.6% in 2024, an increase which saw the country enter the top 10 global music markets for the first time.
This panel will explore the factors driving Mexico’s rise, including cultural trends, technological advancements, and shifts in consumer behaviour, along with sharing insights on the opportunities this presents for artists, managers, and music professionals looking to engage with this vibrant market.
Glenn will be joined by Malfi Dorantes (MalfiCo / Co-Founder of MUSICMEX), Cynthia Flores (Director Ascendente Agencia / Co-Founder of MUSICMEX) and Matty Woo (Pistol MGMT – Dune Rats, Last Dinosaurs).
This session will discuss the unique challenges and strategies for success in navigating the Mexican music landscape as an Australian artist. For more information, visit the BIGSOUND website.
