Ananthu Nair

aywy is a South Indian-Australian artist record producer & DJ based in Sydney, Australia. Early in his career as a producer/DJ, aywy released a slew of singles & mixtapes on Soundcloud & Bandcamp, & subsequently went on to play Sydney shows hosted by Boiler Room & Places + Faces, as well as international shows in Asia & USA, all the while hosting secret underground warehouse parties & raves in Sydney’s Inner-West suburbs. From here he went on to work with artists such as Goldlink (Maryland) & produced a bulk of Queens-based Bengali artist Anik Khan’s first project – Kites. He also produced for Ghanaian Afro-Fusion artist Amaarae on her project – The Angel You Don’t Know. He spearheads Chor Bazaar’s creative output, a hub & collective for South-Asian & POC talent in Australia. His production style weaves between contemporary & classic hip hop, R&B/Soul, Hindustani/Carnatic & world influences. His latest work features his vocal styling, mid-way between raps & sung melodies.

Since then, Chor Bazaar has become a globally recognised music & media outfit, uniting audiences across Australia & the world, and pioneering the ‘new desi wave’. Chor Bazaar has gone on to collaborate with notable national and international artists & brands such as Raf Saperra, Yung Singh, Soulection, American Apparel, District Live, Triple J, Live Nation, Rinse Fm, BBC, Astral People, SXSW, Northface, JD & Redbull
