Kane Stewart has worked professionally in the music industry for more than 30 years, with extensive experience as a performer, vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and music venue manager. For the past 17 years, he has managed the Darwin Railway Club in Parap, helping establish the venue as one of Darwin’s leading live music spaces and an important platform for local, interstate and international artists. The Darwin Railway Club is recognised as a significant live music venue within the Northern Territory, regularly presenting touring artists alongside emerging and established local musicians.

Alongside his venue management and performance work, Kane is also a creative producer, developing and producing original rock music theatre with a strong gothic and theatrical aesthetic. His work brings together live music, theatre, visual performance and storytelling, reflecting his broad experience across the performing arts and his commitment to developing distinctive, original work

Darwin Railway Club
The Darwin Railway Club, affectionately known as “The Rails,” is located in the tropical suburb of Parap and has a long history as a community meeting place. Originally established as a social and workers’ club for people connected to Darwin’s now-defunct railway, the venue has evolved over the past 17 years into one of the Northern Territory’s leading independent live music venues.

The Rails presents a diverse program of local, interstate and international musicians and performers, providing valuable opportunities for Territory artists to develop their careers, reach new audiences and share stages with touring acts.

Away from the city’s nightclub strip, the venue’s relaxed tropical atmosphere and strong community spirit have made it one of Darwin’s much-loved cultural “hidden gems.” Locally recognised for its contribution to live music, the Darwin Railway Club has won Best Live Music Venue in the NT four times.

Today, The Rails plays an important role in Darwin’s cultural infrastructure, supporting artists, audiences and the broader Northern Territory music industry through a diverse and ongoing program of live music and performance.
