Kelly Lovelady
Kelly Lovelady is a conductor-curator and cultural activist driven by her combined passions for experimental programming, concert dramaturgy and composer advocacy. Alongside self-producing massed musical and cross-artform conducted projects, she is in demand internationally as a Musical Director and Guest Conductor with a focus on contemporary repertoire and composer collaboration.
She is the founding Artistic Director of Ruthless Jabiru, a dynamic chamber orchestra of Australasians now based around the UK. Ruthless Jabiru’s projects explore and champion humanitarian and social justice stories through new music to promote compassion, sustainability and social consciousness in collaboration with the campaigning sector.
Lovelady is a fierce advocate for originality, creativity and hybridity in music, thought and life. She currently curates free fortnightly mixtapes of experimental music in the hope of expanding tastes, minds, genre boundaries; and just what belongs within the “contemporary” and “classical” labels in today’s richly-influenced musical ecosystem.
