Matt Riley
Matt Riley (Wasteland) is a Hollywood based songwriter and producer with over 200 million streams across his catalog, known for crafting large scale, adrenaline driven productions that blend festival dance energy with modern pop songwriting. His work specializes in high impact music designed for sports promos, trailers, action campaigns and cinematic sync placements.
Originally from Australia, Matt spent over a decade as a touring DJ on the international festival circuit before transitioning into songwriting and production for global artists. His work includes writing and producing for Armin van Buuren, Timmy Trumpet and R3HAB, with support from artists such as David Guetta. His catalog also includes collaborations with artists including ILUKA, Gashi and Isaiah Firebrace.
Alongside artist releases, Matt has built a strong catalog in sync licensing, composing music for global campaigns including Mitsubishi, Coca Cola, F45, Zumba and the Australian Open, as well as television placements including Love Island (UK and US editions). He also wrote the title song for the film The Unicorn Diaries. His productions have reached number one on the ARIA Club Charts, further establishing his reputation for creating high energy commercial records.
Drawing inspiration from electronic pioneers like Tiesto, The Prodigy and Daft Punk, as well as the textures of 80s synthesizer driven music, Matt is known for complex, high energy productions, big hooks and synth driven sound design, occasionally incorporating talkbox and analog inspired elements into modern pop and electronic records.
Working from his custom studio across from Capitol Records at Hollywood and Vine, Matt collaborates with a trusted network of vocalists and writers to create music that sits at the intersection of artist releases, commercial pop and sync ready production.
Outside the studio, Matt can often be found hiking around Los Angeles, making friends with other people’s golden retrievers at the dog park until he finally gets his own, or indulging a lifelong obsession with theme parks.
