Recap: August Inbound Programs

Last month we ran two programs across MIFF and the Art Music Awards.

Last month we ran two concurrent inbound programs in Melbourne and Sydney. We flew in Fabienne Krause, Managing Director of Classical:NEXT in Germany, to participate in the Australian Music Centre (AMC) conference Surrounding Sound: Level Up in Sydney, attend the APRA AMCOS and AMC Art Music Awards, and visit Melbourne to meet with classical and art music organisations and practitioners.

At the same time, we brought in a delegation of screen music professionals for the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF). Each of them worked on films which screened as part of the Bright Horizons international film competition: Billie Mind (Sound Of Falling, Sound Designer), Bridget Samuels (Urchin, Music Supervisor) and Chaibovon Seelukwa (A Useful Ghost, Composer). They connected with Australian screen composers in Melbourne and Sydney, participated in panels in both cities, saw a lot of films featuring Australian music, and attended the Art Music Awards and the MIFF Awards.

A huge thank you to MIFF for partnering with us and to APRA AMCOS and the AMC for having us at their various events. Here are a few photos from everyone’s time in Australia.

Our inbound delegation escaped the Sydney rain and experienced behind-the-scenes tours of two of the city’s most stunning venues, Phoenix Central Park and the Sydney Opera House. Thank you to both for having us.

This isn’t a photo of a brand new band – it’s the inbound delegates at rehearsals for the Art Music Awards at the City Recital Hall in Sydney. Maybe they’ll be asked to perform at next year’s event.
