Recap: India Trade Mission 2025

August saw us return to India with a delegation from Australia’s peak music bodies.

Last month, Sounds Australia was thrilled to return to All About Music at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai, India, with a dedicated trade mission designed to deepen ties between the Australian and Indian music industries.

Building on over a decade of strategic engagement with India’s music sector, including showcases and delegations across Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore, as well as the recent Australia–India Inbound Exchange Program at SXSW Sydney (supported by Sound NSW), this year’s mission represented an important milestone in Sounds Australia’s continued efforts to foster collaboration, cultural exchange, and commercial partnerships.

The 2025 delegation featured representatives from Australia’s peak music organisations, including AAM, AIR, ALMBC, AMPAL, APRA AMCOS, and ARIA PPCA, who participated in a series of curated networking events, industry meetings, and evening showcases. These activities provided valuable insights into emerging trends and facilitated meaningful connections within one of the world’s fastest-growing music markets.

As part of the All About Music conference, Sounds Australia’s Executive Producer Esti Zilber delivered a keynote presentation, offering key insights into the Australian music landscape and highlighting opportunities for bilateral collaboration.

The Australian Consul General in Mumbai also hosted a reception to support professional exchange between Australian and Indian music industry representatives, further strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties.

Evening showcases included Misfits Not Dead Yet 2025, spotlighting genre-defying talent and reinforcing the vibrancy of India’s contemporary music scene. Photos from the showcase by Pranav Marde.

Sounds Australia would like to acknowledge the generous support of the Australian Consul General to Mumbai and IMX in helping deliver this impactful trade mission, and our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful folks who braved the monsoonal rains to connect with the Australians!

In the coming months, Sounds Australia will be delivering post-event sessions in collaboration with the participating peak organisations, sharing key learnings and insights directly with their membership.
