Baker Boy’s debut album Gela is out now! A blistering, joyful record that paints the young rapper more vividly than ever before.

Gela. Say it out loud, say it with pride, with the honour and respect it deserves: GE-lah. You’ve met the bright-eyed, ferociously talented rapper Danzal Baker under a handful of names — the Fresh Prince of Arnhem Land, Baker Boy, the “proud blak Yolngu boy with the killer flow”. Now, he’s ready for you to meet him as Gela: his skin name, and one of the truest markers of his identity.

Knowing himself well, knowing himself truly, and when his music can reflect that, there was only one obvious perfect choice for the title of Baker Boy’s first album: Gela. The debut includes ARIA Gold-certified Cool As Hell, Meditjin ft. JessB, Move, Ride ft. Yirrmal, My Mind ft. G Flip, Butterflies and latest single Survive ft. Uncle Jack Charles.

With each successive release Baker Boy continues to establish himself as a deft, talented rapper, with charisma and verve inherited from the genre’s greats. His list of career accolades includes six ARIA nominations; an ARIA Gold certification for ‘Cool As Hell’ & ‘Mr La Di Da Di’; six wins at the National Indigenous Music Awards; an Order of Australia medal; the 2019 Young Australian of the Year award; multiple placements in Triple J’s Hottest 100 and over 44.4 million streams of his music world-wide. He also recently performed at the 2021 AFL Grand Final.

ELECTRIC FIELDS, the potent musical project of multi-talented artist and performer Zaachariaha Fielding and producer-composer Michael Ross, brings together their brilliance, channelling something very special.

These two self-described “feminine brothers” show real strength. Their latest song ‘Gold Energy’ embraces their queerness and shares Zaachariaha’s traditional language exploring an evolving sonic shift on this ebullient new single. Fielding, who’s been awarded Best Live Voice for the National Live Music Awards for the last 2 years, sings “Kurunpa nganampa liprulala” in one of the Anangu languages during the pre-chorus, which translates to “Adjust your spirit, correct your energy.”. This contentment takes commitment: it’s about fierce optimism. And when Zaachariah dances, – an integral part of their live show – he becomes the spirit creature for audiences who let their freak flag fly.

They’ve lit it up at massive shows all around Australia, and in 9 other countries. Shows here include the 2020 AFL Grand Final. “To take Electric Fields smack bang into the pool room of Australia, the AFL Grand Final, I felt a real sense of optimism that the gatekeepers said ‘This belongs here’,” says Ross. Their national tour also sold out, and in 2021 they performed at the SCG for the nationally televised Mardi Gras Parade (where they previewed Gold Energy); opened Parrtjima Festival; headlined Garrmalang Festival; closed the First Nations Fashion and Design for Australian Fashion Week; and received the top award for their shows at the Fringe Festival. In the years prior, they also performed for Splendour In The Grass, Golden Plains, VIVID, Groovin the Moo and the Spotify Front Left showcase. Along with numerous other awards, they’ve notched up six National Live Music Awards and were finalists for a recent ARIA Award for Best Live Artist.

They recently performed for the triple j broadcast of the National Indigenous Music Awards, performing From Little Things in honour of Kev Carmody’s induction into the NIMAs Hall Of Fame. They were live streamed for the Copenhagen to Sydney handover of World Pride, have appeared a number of times in Vogue Magazine as ‘Movers of the Next Gen’, and in early 2022 have already headlined numerous shows, including the Australian Open and Melbourne Pride.

The Melbourne-born multi-hyphenate has been making waves both at home and abroad for the past three years. In 2021, G went global with a number of international collaborations tucked under their sleeve including ‘Queen’ (#64 triple j Hottest 100) with indie pop darling mxmtoon, ‘Waiting Game’ with rising pop-grunge star Renforshort, ‘Not Even In Vegas’ with fellow Melbourne-native Thomas Headon, and ‘Scream’ featuring LA-based writer and pop up-and-comer UPSAHL. Currently supporting KFlay and soon to be joining Fletcher on her forthcoming US tour, G Flip continues their meteoric rise.

Since releasing their debut hit ‘About You’ — which took them from bedroom producer to national superstar — G Flip has sold out all 5 of their national headline tours, been nominated for three ARIA Awards, won a MTV EMA Award, scored 9 places in triple j’s Hottest 100 (from 2019-2021), performed the highest viewed triple j Like A Version of 2020, worked with global brand Crocs for two limited edition collaborations, and attained a number of gold, platinum and multi-platinum singles.

Based across Melbourne and Sydney, the core of Haiku Hands is Beatrice Lewis, Claire Nakazawa and Mie Nakazawa. Together, they curate, perform and work as a collective of artists, engaging and exploring social norms with their lyrical and visual content. Their influences range from hip-hop to pop, electronic to dance, and everything beyond.

Haiku Hands brought their singular, rebellious, and outright fun sound across multiple continents over the past two years. On the heels of their breakthrough performances at the UK’s Great Escape, Haiku Hands has been touted by NME as “Australia’s most electrifying pop prospect” and “a thrilling pop hybrid” who combine the pure pop attitude of Charli XCX with the energy and swagger of The Beastie Boys.

The group recently released their debut self-titled album in September 2020 on Spinning Top Records (AUS/NZ) and Mad Decent (US). Their album received rave reviews from Rolling Stone, the Guardian, Clash, NME, and more. In 2020, Haiku Hands wrote an exclusive song for Blumhouse Production/Universal for their blockbuster Freaky with Vince Vaughn. Most recently, Haiku Hands announced the release of their digital deluxe debut album along with new track ‘Conclusions’, available now for pre-order on limited edition black vinyl.

Just in time for the grand re-opening of Australia’s dance floors and festival stages, Peking Duk, the dance music duo made up of Canberra natives Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles, are back with brand new music that builds on their back catalogue of absolute bangers.

With a discography that features platinum single after platinum single – from the ARIA Award-winning, four-times platinum single ‘High’ (2014), which was the #1 most played track on triple j that year while coming it at #2 in the Hottest 100, to the triple-platinum witching hour anthem ‘Stranger’ ft. Swedish artist Elliphant (2016), which won them another ARIA and has since racked up over 50 million Spotify streams, and ‘Fake Magic’ (2017), featuring vocals by Aussie songstress AlunaGeorge to ‘Fire’ (2018), the four-time platinum track that is, quite literally, pure fire – the Peking Duk boys have unabashedly earned themselves a reputation as Australia’s most beloved, most bonkers electronic music act.

The bootleg remixes they cut their teeth producing as teens (they burst onto the scene with a American indietronica band Passion Pit’s hit single ‘Take A Walk’) have led the best mates to playing some of the biggest festival stages in Australia and around the world. But the best is yet to come: Their new music slaps just as hard as the hasty singles that caused us to fall in love with the Duks in the first place.

This June will see Hyde and Styles drop ‘Chemicals’, a big, bold, atmospheric hit that combines all the signatures of a classic Duk hit: “It’s got the emotion, the euphoria and the party,” says Styles. “It’s really a quintessential Duk song and we’re excited to bring people some of that.”

‘Chemicals’ is a tune about being in an abusive relationship. As the Duks explain, the object of that relationship could be anything: A person, a substance, maybe even an unhealthy snack. But the track’s energy and electricity, which makes you want to listen to it again and again, belies its more sincere subject matter.

Because the Duks like to work when inspiration strikes, rather than forcing it, the first draft of ‘Chemicals’ was written on a rainy day in Melbourne in under eight hours. Like most Duk tracks, it started out as one thing – a melancholic ballad – and ended up shape shifting into this big, hard-hitting dance hall tune.
