We’re still buzzing from an amazing week in Los Angeles with a group of incredible Australian screen composers.

In partnership with the Australian Guild of Screen Composers, and supported by @wearevicscreen, we presented our inaugural Screen Composer Trade Mission to Los Angeles. This mission was designed to draw focus to the exceptional quality and innovation of Australia’s Screen Composer sector, creating invaluable opportunities for collaboration across US Film, Television, Gaming and Advertising.

Throughout the mission, the composers met with top music teams from Amazon, Disney, Ignition Creative, Netflix, Riot Games and Sony Pictures; Kraft Engel Management and First Artist Management; as well as directors and producers thanks to Film Independent, laying the groundwork for long-term creative partnerships, offering international audiences a fresh Australian perspective in sound and music.

The week concluded with a very special showcase, presented with @thenighttemple, supported by the @ausconsulatela, @fourpillarsgin and @sydneybeerco, with a work from each of the delegates performed live by The Night Temple Orchestra.

Introducing our inaugural Screen Composers Trade M

Introducing our inaugural Screen Composers Trade Mission to Los Angeles.

In an exciting initiative designed to elevate Australian music talent within Los Angeles’ influential Media and Entertainment sectors, our inaugural Screen Composer Trade Mission kicks off next week to introduce eleven of Australia’s leading screen composers to the US market.

In partnership with the @australianguildscreencomposers , with support from @wearevicscreen , this mission is designed to draw focus to the exceptional quality and innovation of Australia’s Screen Composer sector, creating invaluable opportunities for collaboration across US Film, Television, Gaming and Advertising.

Throughout the mission, which runs from 11 - 15 November, delegates will engage directly with top music teams from industry giants like Netflix, Amazon, Riot Games, Film Independent, Ignition Creative and FOX Sports. These interactions will lay the groundwork for long-term creative partnerships, offering international audiences a fresh Australian perspective in sound and music.

Overall, international screen royalties for Australian composers increased by almost 20% in FY24 compared to FY23, with royalties for television alone jumping by nearly 90%.

The initiative also highlights Australia’s highly attractive 30% Post, Digital & VFX (PDV) offset, with additional state incentives up to 15%, which can reduce costs for US productions working with Australian composers, score recording and sound services, underscoring why US productions should be connecting with Australia’s screen industry.

Participating in the mission are eleven outstanding Australian composers, ready to bring their expertise and unique vision to LA’s global entertainment network:

What a fantastic week at @womex_theworldmusicexpo

Last week we travelled to Manchester, UK alongside the largest ever Australian delegation to attend the event. Thank you to everyone who visited the Sounds Australia stand, and all who came to Friday’s networking mixer to meet the Australians, sample delicious Australian wine and of course eat some Tim Tams.

We also hosted our first ever international networking lunch at WOMEX, which was a hive of chats and connections, and we loved bringing people together from around the world to meet the Australians.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Tampere, Finland in 2025.

We’re still thinking about Australia House at @amsterdamdanceevent.

Here’s what our second day at @boxsociaal Jordaan looked like at ADE earlier this month, which included a really special chat with @itsyaboyciz, @ninalasvegas and @u.pper90 talking about Australia’s booming dance and electronic scenes with @mixmaganz’s Jack Colquhoun.

We finished the day by teaming up with our mates at @disco.ac for a totally packed mixer. It was the perfect way to close out the first ever Australia House at ADE.

Timed perfectly with SXSW Sydney, Sounds Australia hosted a delegation of India’s top music industry professionals to experience this State’s unique and diverse talent.

Over six action-packed days, we fostered international connections and promoted collaboration between the Indian and local music scenes. A huge thank you to the amazing folks @anishagaba gupta__anuj @deejasti @naykumar @peonyhirwani @priyankakhimani @roochay and @tbonestakez for being part of it!

A big thank you to everyone who visited the first-ever Australia House at @amsterdamdanceevent last week.

After years of attending the event and consulting with Australia’s dance music community, we were so thrilled to see Australia House come to life.

Across two days we held networking lunches, partnered with @mixmaganz and @disco.ac on a couple of great mixers, and hosted a very special media event with @itsyaboyciz, @ninalasvegas and @u.pper90 chatting to Mixmag ANZ’s Jack Colquhoun about the exciting state of Australian dance and electronic music currently.

Some lucky people also got their hands on the first print edition of Mixmag ANZ, as well as an extremely limited edition Sounds Australia vinyl.
Pressed by @impressedrecordings, the record is a compilation of awesome Australian dance music, mixed exclusively by @pnaupnau.

A special thank you to Dr. Greg French, Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who attended Wednesday’s lunch.

An extra special thank you to @anabellek who assisted us in making Australia House and the program of activity a reality, and we couldn’t have done it without her.

The biggest thank yous of all go to the legends at @boxsociaal Jordaan, the home of Australia House. They were making coffees, cooking up delicious food and slinging drinks for two days, and their hard work made Australia House an awesome place to be.

After many years of attending ADE and consulting with the dance and electronic music community, we were so excited to open the inaugural Australia House in Amsterdam this week, and this is what Day One looked like.

A very special thanks to Dr. Greg French from the @ausembnl for attending our very first ADE networking lunch, those that came to the @mixmaganz mixer, everyone who utilised the House, and the incredible staff at @boxsociaal.

It was a fantastic afternoon at @the5spotnashville last month when THE AUSSIE BBQ returned to @americanafest for the tenth time to showcase some of the best Australian Americana talent.

We love the team at The 5 Spot, so we want to send them a huge thank you for all their hard work over the years in helping us with our showcases. We can’t wait to return in 2025.

Last month, under the light of @the5spotnashville’s disco ball, we presented the tenth edition of THE AUSSIE BBQ at @americanafest, showcasing some of Australia’s finest Americana artists.

Last Friday we celebrated the 10th anniversary of THE AUSSIE BBQ at the @reeperbahn_festival with a massive afternoon of Australian music.

Thank you to everyone who came to @molotowclub. We hope you discovered a new favourite Australian act.

It was also our chance to say goodbye to the current @molotowclub venue which has been the home of THE AUSSIE BBQ since 2014. We’ll miss this place but we’re so excited to see the new Molotow in 2025.

Next week in Hamburg we’re celebrating an annive

Next week in Hamburg we’re celebrating an anniversary - and saying goodbye to an old friend.

2024 marks ten years since Sounds Australia began hosting showcases of Australian artists at Germany’s @reeperbahn_festival, and since the start, @molotowclub has been the home of THE AUSSIE BBQ.

It’s one of our favourite venues in the world, with some of the best staff and crew you’ll find anywhere. Unfortunately, the owners of the building at Nobistor 14 are turning it into the hotel, so next Friday September 20 will be the last time THE AUSSIE BBQ takes place inside this particular venue.

The good news is that Molotow will live on! In 2025 it will move across the road to Reeperbahn 136, where acts like The Beatles and The Liverbirds played in the ‘60s when it was called the Top Ten Club. We’re so happy that Molotow will live on and we’re excited to see the new space.

So if you’re at the Reeperbahn Festival next Friday, come and discover your next favourite Australian act, and say goodbye to the current home of Molotow at the same time. Hit the 🔗 in our bio for all the info.
