“There is great talent in Australia and the German audiences loves artists from Down Under. We always have a special eye on that market – which won’t stop in the future either! Also, on a personal note, I somehow always end up at the bar with an Aussie at the end of a good night…” Bjørn Pfarr – Head of Music Programming, Reeperbahn Festival.
Taking place annually in Hamburg, Reeperbahn Festival is one of Europe’s premier events for the discovery of new music from around the globe.
The Festival program combines a diverse line-up of new, international talent with the thematic diversity of a progressive music marketplace. All kinds of events are waiting to enthrall and inspire fans, journalists and industry professionals across a multitude of venues. Since its debut in 2006, the Reeperbahn Festival has developed into one of the most important gatherings for the music world and shows how a super-abundant musical line-up can be allied with music business interests and civil society engagement. Sessions, showcases, networking events and award shows allow music industry professionals visiting the Reeperbahn Festival to think about, experience and listen to music in new ways.
The conference offers industry representatives a program of sessions, networking events, matchmaking events, showcases, meetings and the ANCHOR award show.
The ANCHOR – Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award – is an accolade for the most promising emerging musicians at the festival. Established in 2016 and awarded each year, ANCHOR serves as a guide for fans and the music industry in search of the best new music and as a jump start for the nominated artists’ international careers.
