CMJ MUSIC MARATHON
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK
From 2009 – 2015, Sounds Australia participated in the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City.
Its origin began with Robert Haber, who in 1978 began publishing the College Media Journal, a bi-weekly trade magazine aimed at college radio programmers in Great Neck, NY.
A year and a half later, the magazine was able to create the first annual CMJ Music Marathon, which was named after the New York City Marathon, which was held at around the same time of year. By its final year in 2016, CMJ Music Marathon featured 1400 live performances in more than 80 NYC clubs and theatres in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
The right to the name CMJ Music Marathon was purchased by Amazing Radio in 2019.
